Etymology The name of this species refers to the Arhuaco people with ancestral lands close to the type locality of the species. The Arhuaco people self-identify as Iku, which translates as “people” in the Ika language. Iku (Arhuacos) - Guardians of life, defenders of the peaceful coexistence of men among themselves and with the forces of nature. This is a name in apposition and thus invariable.
