Gnamptogenys teffensis (Santschi, 1929) an obsolete combination of Holcoponera teffensis Santschi, 1929
Holcoponera teffensis Santschi, 1929h: 449, figs. 17, 22 (w.) Attributed to Borgmeier. BRAZIL (Amazonas). Neotropic.
Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Brazil: Amazonas, Tefé (T. Borgmeier). Primary type depository: NHMB. Type notes: 1) Santschi, 1929h described this taxon from a single worker. 2) The specimen(s) in MCZC cited by Lattke, 1995: 148, may be from the same series as the holotype. 3) Scott-Santos et al. (2008) indicate that the MZSP houses a syntype of Holcoponera teffensis (Coll. Borgmeier 2514, MZSP0083482). Additionally, the Borgmeier's handwritten catalog #2514 (at MZSP) indicate that the specimen is a “Type”. Thus, this specimen is likely part of the type series, as it was Borgmeier who recognized the species and sent it to Santschi for their description.
