Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Heterick, 2006: 101). Primary type locality: lectotype Singapore: (no further data) (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depository: OXUM. Primary type specimen: lectotype CASENT0008625. Secondary type information: Secondary type material: 3 paralectotype workers. Secondary type locality: same as for lectotype. Secondary type depository: OXUM. Type notes: 1) Donisthorpe, 1932c: 449, cites 4 worker syntypes in OXUM (confirmed by Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978). 2) Syntypes of both Monomorium vastator and Monomorium fragilis bear the same label by A.R. Wallace, “House ants Singapore, very destructive”. Both probably had their origin in a single series, one part of which (Monomorium vastator) went direct to Smith, the other (Monomorium fragilis) which came to him later, via the W.W. Saunders collection.
