Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype ergatoid queen. Primary type locality: Botswana (“Bechuanaland”): Ngamiland, xi.1930-i.1931 (G.D.H. Carpenter). Primary type depository: BMNH. Primary type specimen: CASENT0900397. Type notes: Holotype is an ergatoid queen, not a worker as stated in the original description (Bolton, 1981b: 275).
