Primary type information: Primary type material: 1 syntype worker, 1 syntype queen. Primary type locality: Indonesia: Sulawesi (“Celebes”), Makassar, “Mak.” (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depository: OXUM. Type notes: Smith, 1860a did not give a type locality in the original description of this species. The only specimens in OXUM that meet the original description of this species were these two from Makassar, the worker of which was already regarded as a type by Donisthorpe (B. Bolton unpublished notes 1978).
