Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Brazil: Pará, Belém, 1846 (V. Ghiliani) (locality in error). Primary type depository: MRSN. Type notes: 1) Spinola, 1853: 71, says that he found three workers in M. Rambur’s collection that were exactly the same as the holotype, but from Algeria. 2) Emery, 1893j: 1, says that the type specimen is missing, but its label still remains; he confirms that Dorylus homalinus is from North Africa.
