Primary type information: Primary type material: neotype worker (by designation of Snelling, 1976: 122). Primary type locality: neotype Mexico: Chihuahua, 21 mi. SW Jiminez, 23.xii.1958 (A.S. Menke & L.A. Stange). Primary type depository: LACM (neotype). Type notes: 1) Original description data: syntype workers (number not stated), U.S.A.: Colorado, Garden of the Gods, 6181 ft, vii.1879 (H.C. McCook) (no material known to exist). 2) Snelling, 1976: 122, also nominates 31 “neoparatypes”, a category not recognised by ICZN; these specimens, from the same series as the neotype, are deposited in AMNH, LACM, MCZC, USNM.
