Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Scupola, 2006: 163). Primary type locality: lectotype Italy: Chieti (Andreini). Primary type depository: MSNG. Secondary type information: Secondary type material: paralectotype workers (number not stated). Secondary type localities: Italy: Lippiano, Italy: Pergine (Arezzo) (no collector’s name), Italy: Belvedere, nr Genova (no collector’s name), Tunisia: Edough (no collector’s name). Secondary type depositories: MSNG, NHMB. Type notes: 1) In the original description, Emery, 1916b also mentions queens from Italy: Monte Santo (Teramo) (Andreini). 2) Baroni Urbani, 1973b: 137, records one worker syntype in NHMB, from Chieti.
