Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: U.S.A.: South Dakota, Hill City (T. Ulke?). Primary type depository: MSNG. Type notes: 1) Emery, 1895d: 319, originally gave the type locality as “Washington, D.C. (from T. Pergande)”. 2) Smith, 1939c: 179, cited “Hill City, S. Dak.(ota) (Titus Ulke?)” as type locality, a change accepted by Snelling, 1965a: 16, and Francoeur et al., 1985: 382, although this locality and collector were not mentioned in the original description.
