Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Kempf, 1959d: 428). Primary type locality: indeterminate: either Brazil: Rio de Janeiro (Novara Expd.) (G.R. von Frauenfeld), or Chile: Valparaiso (Novara Expd.) (G.R. von Frauenfeld). Primary type depository: NHMW. Secondary type information: Secondary type material: 1 paralectotype male. Secondary type locality: same as for lectotype. Secondary type depository: NHMW. Type notes: 1) Mayr, 1887 says the specimens originated in “Rio de Janeiro or Valparaiso”, during the Novara Expd. 2) Kempf, 1972b: 134, cited Rio de Janeiro, Guanabara as type locality, but in his earlier lectotype designation; Kempf, 1959d: 428, did not specify a locality.
