Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype male. Primary type locality: Sierra Leone: (no further data) (D.F. Morgan). Primary type depository: BMNH. Primary type specimen: CASENT0900681. Type notes: 1) The specimen is merely labelled “Afric. spiniventris Smith.” This is probably the holotype, but the data should read, “Sierra Leone, D.F. Morgan.” (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978). 2) Smith, 1858a stated, “in all probability this is the male of Paltothyreus pestilentia.”
