Primary type information: Primary type material: lectotype worker (by designation of Rakotonirina & Fisher, 2014: 109). Primary type locality: Hawaiian Is (“Sandwich Is”): Oahu I. (T. Blackburn). Primary type depository: BMNH. Primary type specimen: CASENT0102272 (lectotype). Type notes: 1) Lectotype is a single worker labelled “52” upon the stage card, and “Oahu. 79/40.” BMNH accessions register gives: “1879 no. 40. 1 Leptogenys insularis Sm. Sandwich Is (Oahu). Presented by Rev. T. Blackburn, Honolulu” (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978). 2) If the specimen was unique (as implied by “1 L. insularis”) then the lectotype designation is redundant.
