Primary type information: Primary type material: 6 syntype workers, 5 syntype queens, 3 syntype males. Primary type localities: Latvia: Lake Kanjersee, nr Riga (H. Jacobson), Estonia: N coast, and Oesel I. (H. Jacobson), Estonia: vic. Päinurme (H. Jacobson). Primary type depository: ZMUM (perhaps also NHMB). Type notes: Radchenko & Elmes, 2010: 138, cite 3 workers, 1 queen, 1 male Latvia (= Lettland), 18.viii.1936 (H. Jacobson).

Subspecies of Myrmica limanica: Arnol'di, 1970b: 1840; Arnol'di & Dlussky, 1978: 532 (in key).
