Type notes: 1) This taxon was first cited by Forel, 1889: 259, as the major worker caste (“soldier”) of Proceratium europaea Forel, 1886e (misidentification). 2) Baroni Urbani & de Andrade, 2003a: 219, confirmed the identity of the type material.
