Myrmica rufitarsis Foerster, 1850b: 485 (w.) ALGERIA. Palearctic.
Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype (?) worker. Primary type locality: Algeria: Algiers (no collector’s name). Primary type depository: unknown. Type notes: 1) No indication of number of specimens is given. 2) According to Horn & Kahle, 1935: 78, Foerster’s formicid types are in MNHU, but Seifert & Schultz, 2009b: 271, state that “According to our own search in German collections type material of Förster is completely destroyed”. 3) However, perhaps specimens remain in MNHN as Foerster, 1850b (p. 486) thanks “Leon Fairmaire in Paris” for the specimens.
