Primary type information: Primary type material: 1 syntype worker, 1 syntype queen. Primary type locality: Indonesia: Sulawesi (“Celebes”), Manado, “60/76” (A.R. Wallace). Primary type depository: BMNH. Type notes: 1) Donisthorpe, 1932c: 468, cites 1 worker, 1 queen in OXUM. 2) Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978, cites 1 worker, 1 queen in BMNH. 3) The two specimens in OXUM (1 worker, 1 queen), marked as types by Donisthorpe, 1932c, are not type material. The locality on their data discs is “Tond.” (= Tondano) whereas the type locality specified by Smith, 1861b is Manado; BMNH accessions register gives: “1860 no. 76 (Sept. 13). Celebes (Manado); purchased of Stevens, collected by A.R. Wallace” (Bolton (unpublished notes) 1978).
