Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype worker. Primary type locality: Russia: (“E Rossia meridionali”) (no further data) (V. Motschulski). Primary type depository: ZMHF. Type notes: 1) Lectotype worker designation by DuBois, 1998b: 265, is redundant because Nylander, 1849 says, “I have only seen a single specimen of this distinctive species”. 2) Doubts were expressed about the validity of the lectotype designation, and the identity of the type material, by Radchenko, 2007: 28.
