Type notes:
1)
Seifert, 2003b cites only lectotype plus 1 paralectotype. Details of the entire type series are provided by
Radchenko et al., 2006: 513. 2) Original description localities were in U.S.A. (Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey) and Europe (Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands), but
Baroni Urbani, 1971c: 35, and
Seifert, 2003b: 146, pointed out that the type locality should properly be in Europe. 3) Earlier,
Emery, 1895d: 315, had indicated that
Myrmica schencki was based on material misidentified as
Myrmica lobicornis by
Foerster, 1850a: 69,
Schenck, 1852: 82, and
Mayr, 1855: 412. Localities given by these authors for the taxon included Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, and Slovenia.
