Primary type information: Primary type material: holotype (?) worker. Primary type locality: South America: ("Habitat in America meridionali Rolander.") (no further data). Primary type depository: unknown (if material survives then presumably ZMLS). Type notes: 1) No indication of number of specimens is given. 2) De Geer, 1773: 600, says “found in Suriname by M. Rolander”; Fabricius, 1782: 492, Gmelin, 1790: 2801, Fabricius, 1793: 360, Latreille, 1802a: 178, and Kempf, 1972b: 119, all give this type locality. 3) Day & Fitton, 1978: 196, record it as absent from LSLC.
